Freedom Rings

Recently, I have found myself in a familiar, and frustrating situation. Nothing I can't handle, but nonetheless unexpected. Let's just all say "I told you so." It's ok, I deserve it. lol

The truth is, I have found my recent freedom A LOT less difficult to deal with than before. In fact, I feel almost nothing. Not sure if this lack of feeling is because I am accustomed to disappointment or if I have finally come to the realization that I have settled and deserve so much more out of life. Anyway, I feel like I have a new lease on life...and it's exciting! I've rededicated myself to going to the gym and am really pursuing this Masters Progam at SDSU. A world of possabilities has opened to me now that I am free and have time, and I am using it to my advantage! Oh and I've decided I will gladly wait for the right person to come in my life; GLADLY. ;-)

Anywho, I just wanted to share with you all this sudden change in my life. Yes I am ok, in fact, I am pretty good. Right, Kim? ;-)

Answer to Carrie's question

No! You can't! I was so sure you could, but apparently Blogger is a dumb beast and can't make single posts private, just the whole blog. I could set the blog to only be readable by the "blog authors"--that'd be anybody who has permission to post, a.k.a. all of us. I don't really think it's necessary for this blog to be public in any way, especially now that Jenny's with us. How does everybody feel about that? Vote in the comments.

Question

Excuse me guru moderator Anna -

Is there a way one could post a private entry that only allows us to see it, and not the whole wide world?

Just curious. haha

A little tumbl to the left, a little tumbl to the right

So! Remember when I told you clowns about Tumblr (apparently that was back in January! My Tumblr is six months old and I didn't even know it!)? And I was like, "Get a Tumblr, clowns!"? Well, some of you did! Namely, Cambria (which you already knew), and now Kim and Maggie*!

Tumblr is so fun, for realio. Cambria's been cataloging her various outfits throughout the day in typically hilarious fashion, Kim's been linkin' it up, Maggie's just getting started, and I just put up this fun chat with Kim on my Tumblr (Kim was scooped! You snooze you loose, clown!):

* Kim: Guess what today is?
* Anna: Uh...um...
* Kim: Exactly two weeks until we come!
* Anna: Yay.
* Kim: I know. I'm super pumped.
* Anna: Don't get too pumped--you have to stay in Brooklyn half the time!
* Kim: Oh, that's not that bad.
* Anna: J/k, I know.
* Kim: I'm just excited to be there and spend time with you guys. I don't care where I stay as long as I don't have to sleep on the street.
* Anna: Well, if that's your standard...
* Kim: Wouldn't that be awkward, going on vacation and having to sleep on the street?
* Anna: Kim, that's not a vacation, that's homelessness.
* Kim: OMG I'm totally tumbling this conversation...when I get home.
* Anna: Not if I tumbl it first!
* Kim: YOU WOULD NOT.
* Kim: Fine, whatever--I'll just reblog it.

Anyway, Katie and Nikki, two New York friends of Cambria's and mine, have Tumblrs as well, and so does The Brunch Bunch, a weekly (most of the time) soap opera starring food that Katie and I write and draw on napkins every week at trivia. Some other Tumblrs worth checking out:

  • 52 Books
  • Alex Balk
  • Jake & Amir
  • All the Sad Young Gossip Girls (if you love Gossip Girl you MUST read this--someone spends an enormous amount of time creating fake miscellania using characters and plot lines from the show--you kind of have to see it to believe it)
  • Sharing Time
  • Garfield Minus Garfield
  • and the granddaddy of them all, Peter W. Knox

  • EN-YOY! (And start your own! You'll like it, I swear! It's so easy to use!)

    *And P.S., Mags, do you want to tell us what a nuzzo is? KTHXBAI!

    Witch, Sexy Kitten

    Hello everyone! Hope all is going well for everyone (Kim sorry to hear about the dentist, I'm due for a cleaning soon and avoiding it.)
    Not much going on in the LB. What am I doing with my time you ask? Watching 'X-Files.' Yes I'm so freaking out silently inside that the only way to deal with the pending opening of the new 'X-Files' movie is to watch every episode of all nine seasons before July 25th. Its crazy but I love watching the old episodes and rediscovering my love for this show. I'm keeping track of how often Scully wears skirts and when or if she ever stops wearing them (currently in season 4 and shes still wearing skirts.) The type of pearl earrings she wears (she has about 3-4 different pearl earrings.) All the guest stars like Jack Black and Lucy Liu! I'm having so much fun with this! Even thinking of creating my own version of a 'X-Files' drinking game, like whenever Scully wears a skirt, take a shot! Every time Mulder's apartment gets ran sacked, take a shot! Or whenever Scully cracks a smile, shot! Any who...

    All you need is love

    I thought about just posting this on my livejournal (because I really DON'T want to offend anyone), but here I go anyway. I wanted to share how I feel right now and why I am so filled with joy!

    A co-worker of mine, Beth, as been in a stable, loving, committed relationship for MANY MANY years. They never married, not because they didn't want it, but because the state of california has never, until recently, allowed or recognized gay marriage. Ok ok I'm sure I just ruffled some feathers, not my intention. I am not here to say I am the authority on right and wrong, please don't think that. All I am saying, is my heart filled with joy today as I watched Beth prance around the office telling everyone she was getting married. She was giddy, truly. How can I be ANYTHING but happy for her?

    So here I am thinking, love is precious...and so is committment; the genunine versions of both are rare. Yet, from a very young age I was taught Beth has no right to committ herself, in marriage, to the person whom she has chosen. I don't like the feeling I get in my stomach when I re-read that last sentence.

    I don't have any other comments on all that political stuff. I was just really happy to see the look on her face and a part of me really wishes, that all the people who fought so hard to deny her that right, got to see her face too.

    :-D That is all. *hiding uner a rock* LOL

    Define "not"

    Hey Harry Potter fan(atics), guess what? J.K. Rowling's NOT working on a prequel to the series. Big news, right? Well...except she posted an 800 word excerpt of this prequel on the Waterstone's website. It involves James Potter, Sirius Black, and that famous flying motorcycle, JIC you can't read it (her handwriting is a bit diff). Just wait for the Flash to load, go to "Read our author's stories" on the bottom right of the page, click on J.K. Rowling's name, and read both sides of the "paper". And there, at the bottom, the venerable lady writes "From the sequel I'm not working on--but that was fun!"

    What a booktease.

    Dr. Crentist

    Michael: Where were you?
    Dwight: At the dentist.
    Michael: What's your dentist's name?
    Dwight: ...Dr. Crentist...
    Michael: Your dentist's name is Crentist?
    Dwight: Maybe that's why he became a dentist.

    Well...I visited my own Dr. Crentist yesterday, whose name is not actually crentist...and who drilled and filled seven of my teeth! AH! And I have two more.

    Let me tell you ladies (and Scott- who I am convinced doesn't actually read this) flossing your teeth and seeing a dentist regularly PAY OFF! It had only been a year since I had been to the dentist, but I am not a good flosser and it really came back to bite me in the ass.

    And...going to the dentist is NOT a cheap experience.

    On a lighter note- I have new tires! Because I popped one the first time I went to the dentist. Haha! :)

    Also note about Kim's trip to the dentist- I'm going into work late today- not because my teeth hurt, but because my stomach hurts from all the weird food I ate yesterday because I couldn't chew!

    Arg.

    Also- THREE WEEKS UNTIL JENNY AND I GO TO NYC! AH! :) ::jumping up and down::

    PS- I've decided to start using my blog again. Just a head's up.

    First Time

    On Monday I am going to see the dermatologist at 2pm. I know most of you will laugh at me (because my skin is super clear), but I've had an annoying blemish for a couple weeks and I am shelling out to have it zapped. It's my first time ever seeing this type of doctor and I am a bit nervous/excited. She is excellent, from what I hear, but I am already not a huge fan of ANY type of doctor. I am looking forward to the results and if I get any helpful tips along the way I will be sure to pass them along!

    PS - where is everyone? :-(

    Update

    So my appointment was yesterday. The doctor came in, looked at it, and knew right away what it was. She said I had a "post inflamatory macule" and gave me some Retin A Micro cream to put on it. I have to put this on for 4 weeks and she said it should clear up back to normal without leaving any type of scar. Granted 4 weeks is a long time, but I can handle it. So for now I am covering it up with makeup and doing what the doctor said! It's nice to know it will go away and I don't have cancer.

    Anyway, that's my update. ;-)

    Wee Milo

    When my mom was visiting me in New York last week, she told me that Milo recently had a stroke and had to be put to sleep. He was 14 so this was not totally unexpected, but still sad. As you all know I love him ridiculously a lot and I will miss him. He was such a sweet and gentle cat. Fortunately I have lots of lovely memories, and of course all the silly songs I made up about him over the years.

    Maid of Honor

    Yep, that's me. I am the Maid of Honor in my oldest friend's wedding. Adriane and I have known each other since we were 4; she lived across the street from me in Sacramento when we moved from Iowa. She got engaged to her boyfriend of 8 years in December and she asked me to be the MoH! OMG! This is my first time ever and needless to say I am excited and a bit nervous - it's a lot of responsability. Anywho, the wedding isn't until Jan 2009 but I am starting to look for dresses.

    Does anyone have any ideas about where I should start looking? For those that stare at a computer all day, this would be a great research project. :-) I need help.

    In other news, my job stinks and I am desperately looking for a job that doesn't make me want to shoot myself in the face. I have NO time because I am still working 25 hours a week at CVS. I still manage to see Ian, though the Sub left this afternoon for two weeks - poop, no bf for 2 weeks. Other than that, I have no life. Care to share some of yours with me?

    PS - I need a vacation.
