all or nothing, apparently
So I had nothing to do for quite some time, and now I have everything to do. Bah. I've had a lot of first days in the past week or ten days and I hate first days! It sucks to be new and not know anything or have friends. Double bah. Perhaps a rundown of all my firsts...
Libertine--Intern
To summarize: ugh. I made coffee, I ran non-fashion related errands, I schleped crap to Brooklyn, I sewed, I walked a dog (incorrectly). It was a long day. I didn't really learn anything, which I believe is the point of academically endorsed slave labor. So...I quit. Also feeling less than excited about their line for Target that came out this week.* Probably not a coincidence.
The Natori Company--Intern
So this is what I replaced Libertine with. It's a much bigger company, mostly high-end sleepwear, loungewear, and "foundations", which is a classy way of saying bras and underwear. They have a lot of brands under them, including men's, children's, and home. Anyways, so far this is going pretty well. They have a bunch of interns, most of whom are like 20, but everyone is really nice. I am a special intern! No filing or answering phones for me! Awesome! Instead I scan printed fabric samples from Paris into the computer, clean and redraw them, and get them ready to be knocked off in Korea! Thursday it took me the whole day to finish one print. It will probably get dropped next week, and I will cry. But, if it doesn't...you will see it in Dillard's in September 2008! The fame, the glory. And I will have everyone know that this is a paid internship. That's right, I make $3.75 an hour. Plus, all the coffee and tea I can drink, which, get ready Natori Company, is a lot. Dizzam.
Avion feminin--Intern
I'm such a slutty intern, spreading my love all over town. This is probably my favorite thing I'm doing these days. This is a very small, very new, high-end women's collection. The designer, Katherine, did the same program at Parsons that I am doing and is suddenly getting a lot of attention. She works from her apartment and I think I am her only employee/free helper. We get along really well and she explains every little thing about her business to me, so I am learning a lot. Right now I'm making a lot of patterns, but next week we're going to do more press. We are also working on some new strategies for picking up men in New York. Woot!
Bloomingdale's--"polished professional"
Still gotta earn a buck. My retail comeback is taking a hot minute to get off the ground. Tomorrow at 8:30 AM will kick off day four of boring corporate training. More on this one later I think...
Maui Tacos--disgusted patron
I keep having to eat lunch in unfamiliar neighborhoods at all of my new jobs. So the other day I see Maui Tacos, and I think, "Hey I effing love tacos!" And they had fish tacos to boot! Okay, I knew it wouldn't be Rubio's, but I never expected it to be, what I think was Ludafisk!** Barf, it was the worst thing I've eaten in ages. Anna, when you move here, do not eat at Maui Tacos. I'm-ba lucky-ba to be-ba alive-ba. Foreal.
Central Park--running badass
Today, high on Pinkberry, I ran the reservoir tracks at Central Park THREE times! Normally, I do two. My feet are going to be jacked up for days...
Gosh this is long. I wonder if anyone is still reading.
I really need some new music. Suggestions anyone? I, like the rest of America, have nearly worn out "Hey There Delilah"
I'm watching So You Think You Can Dance. I really like this show, but it makes me wish I was a better dancer. (New Year's, Scott?) Also, I have a weird girlcrush on the host of the show. I think I want to be Cat Deeley. Hmmm.
I think I'm done for now.

** Anyone who can identify my ludafisk reference is my new hero.
* Almost forgot, the Holiday Go:Target designer is Temperley London, one of my favorites!! I am so excited, I hope it is good. I'm a little worried about it being holiday, I wish she had gotten summer. But alas, hopefully it will tide me over until I can afford real Temperley! Dare to dream!

Actually, it's "lutefisk": Cod, soaked in lye for about a week. It's best served with lots of butter.
If you are looking for some music I really like Imogen Heap (Speak for yourself) right now. The main singer also has a solo album out under Frou Frou. Her well known song is from Garden State. The new Fall Out Boy isn't too bad and The Barenaked Ladies have a new one out (Barenaked Ladies are me) that I like. I enjoy the single Easy (the music video for it is weird, but artistic.)
Also, I'm really liking Sara Bareilles. Her new (debut?) album is called Little Voice, and my favorite songs on it are "Love Song" and "Bottle It Up". Also, in the arena of up-tempo music, I'm liking "Whine Up" by Kat DeLuna, "Saturday Night" by Ozomatli and "Beautiful Girls" by Sean Kingston. I don't know how good the whole new KT Tunstall album is, but I really like the new single, "Hold On".
I told my mother that you had two internships and a job. She said she was very excited for you.
