Doing as I'm told

I worked late tonight (what a shock...as I work late two to three nights a week) and got home around 9:30.

AFter arriving home I made mini calzones (WW recipe- quite tasty), which Carrie and I enjoyed for dinner after she came back from work.

Then we made Muddy Buddies! Which I am going to take to work tomorrow.

Carrie had never made muddy buddies before. Can you believe it?

I was shocked!

As for a small recap of my past week- I had very little sleep as it was Greek Week. It was a success. We raised over $12000 for The Wheelchair Foundation. I'll update you with a final amount in the next few weeks.

Sunday I didn't work (first day in 14 days) and C and I went to the Farmer's Market (I bought fruits and some lilies), a BBQ at Megan and Jessica's, and I went to the supermarket.

On a side note, I believe I have successfully killed my Gerber daisy. I will need to use my Lowe's guarantee and go get a new one.

Also, I broke my phone today.

And talked to Jenny. We are making plans to go to NYC in July this Thursday.

It's alive!

Hey all!

Just wanted to let you all know that I'm actually alive. I've been pretty MIA recently, especailly on the blog. Mostly because I don't have much exciting going on in my life.

I've been really busy at work recently. I went to SF for a conference and then straight into Greek Week. I haven't left work on time and had an actual full evening to myself in almost two weeks! AH! The good news- I am getting TONS of comp time! :)

I chatted with Jenny briefly tonight. She's doing okay, she's struggling with her job right now and I'm pretty sure she's checked out and super ready to leave. We'll see how it goes. But...we did chat about NYC!! YAY! I want it to be summer now.

I'm so exhausted, I can't even type anymore.

Things are lookin' up!

So I've been calling people steadily over the past hour or whatever, but I figure I'd just send out a blanket announcement: I GOT A JOB! It's at a company called The Book Report Network, and it's an Internet marketing job, which is probably not exactly what I want to do long term (although I don't know that for a fact, as I have very little job experience, comparatively), but it's great experience and I think I could do a lot of cool stuff for the company--plus, free books! The perks are amazing, for people who are obsessed with (read: addicted to) books. Thanks for the prayers, chaps--they worked!

Now, of course, I have to find a place to live so that I don't completely alienate Cambria's roommate forever (I officially move to NY next Friday; I start the job on Nov 12). I wasn't worrying about that because I was all, "One thing at a time, or your head will explode," but now that the job thing is taken care of, I kind of have to deal with this. Especially before Kim and Carrie get here, so nobody has to sleep on the fire escape (could be fun, though--think about it and get back to me).

I don't really have any other news, although I would like to say that I'm glad our SoCal members are safe and sound (and, apparently, have mandatory vacay--way to go Kim). I'll leave you with this bit of drunken convo from Jenny and my night on the town when she came home on Tuesday (it's has explicit lyrics):

Jenny: I was dating this guy, but I had to break it off with him--he had a choad.
Anna: Uhhhhh...what's a "choad"?
Jenny: It's (lowers her voice) a really short, thick dick.
Anna: So you're not a girth person?
Jenny: Well, I am, but I'm also a length person.
Anna: So not too long, not too short, not too wide, not too thin--you want it just right?
Jenny: Exactly.
Anna: Jenny. You're Goldicocks*.

*Okay, so at the time I was a little drunk and the best I could come up with was "Goldifucks", but "Goldicocks" (which I came up with the next morning) is so much better. So that's how I'm going to tell the story from now on--deal with it.

I had a great weekend. For my birthday my friend Megan and I went to Street Scene, a two day concert that San Diego hosts every year. This year it was moved to Chula Vista at the Coors Ampitheater, which is new and very nice. We had a blast! Everyone that we saw was amazing...but a quick run down for you all...we saw:

-The Killers (who were the most amazing performance of the weekend- no joke! They sang all of their big hits and a few smaller ones from Sam's Town, which were amazing as well. They are seriously awesome live. If you like them and ever have the chance to see them live- pay for it. It's totally worth it)


All of these for just $120! And we only went to maybe a quarter of the people who were performing at the festival. And I spent $30 on beer getting drunk today for my bday. :)

Anyways, I'll post pics when Megan emails them to me. It was so much fun. Wish you all could have been here to celebrate with me.

Jenny came to be bday dinner on Friday night and we went to the Lamplighter afterward. She just got internet hooked up at her new place, so we need to try again to convince her to join the MoCal blog. I mentioned it to her a few times and it sounded promising. She cut her hair to her shoulders. It makes her look very adult!

That's all for now. I'm headed home for Caroline's wedding on Friday night and will return to SD on Monday evening. I will make sure to take pics at the wedding and post them for all to see. I'm excited to see Chris Marcoux, since I haven't seen him since we graduated six years ago!


PS- My mom sent me 10 bed, bath, and beyond coupons for my bday and a gift card there. She cracks me up.

Hello everyone! I enjoy that people have been updating recently with ridiculously long posts updating everyone on their lives. I feel as though I have been so busy that I don't even have time to log on and update the blog. Scott- I too read the blog regularly and think that I should update but feel like I don't have the time. Sadly, this is often true.

My new apartment is great! I'm still working slowly to unpack, but I did a lot of work this weekend. Unfortunately, from the hours of 11am-3pm everyday this weekend I couldn't actually muster the energy to get up off the couch and unpack because it was soooooo unbearably hot! It was in the high 90's-low 100's all weekend, the humidity is higher than normal because of tropical storm activity down on the tip of Baja, I have no a/c, AND on top of it all on Saturday my block was victim to the infamous "rolling blackouts" California hasn't experienced since we were in high school. With no fans my apartment was ridiculous!

Although I do have a GREAT story about my time without power though. My upstairs neighbor is a very interesting character. He came by about three days after I moved in and introduced himself, TOTALLY DRUNK, at 10:30pm. And he came by on Saturday and asked me for a lighter. I had no problem with this, except that I had to dig through a couple of boxes to find one. Well, I handed him the lighter and watched him light his JOINT in front of my apartment. I was so stunned that I had no idea how to react. I didn't really know what to do. When I told this to Cambria she told me that I should have told him to share. "Puff, puff, pass!"

So yeah, I've been trying to keep myself busy. Last Thursday Dani came over and we walked down to the Subway near my apartment. It was an experience to say the least. First, this subway has plexiglass enclosing the sandwich making area. The employees have to put your sandwich and drink cup into a box and close the door before you can open a door and get your food. This makes me feel totally safe BTW. So, we go and the guy behind the counter is totally weird to us, he doesn't speak at all to us the entire time until we got to the register. Dani asked him why they had the plexiglass and he simply shrugged. He and his buddy who work there then proceeded to both leave the restaurant and stand right out front and smoke a cigarette. When they came back in they were totally weird to us as well...anyways, not as interesting as I write it.

So, after subway we decided to take an adventure and wander my neighborhood. We passed multiple eateries (including Jack, Taco Bell, Wendy's, Coco's, Denny's- I am totally set on drunk food) and wandered to this local bar and decided to pop in for a "night cap" (at 6pm). This bar was AWESOME! It's a total local dive bar, but the bartender (michelle) came by and introduced herself and told us that they do kareoke on weekends, DJ's during the week, and grill steaks out back on Tuesday nights. I'm totally going back. Well, I called Jenny and she stopped by. We drove Dani back to my place to get her car to go home and headed back to the bar. When we got back the bartender remembered my name and my drink (impressive since the bar was getting crowded) and Jenny and I stayed and chatted for a while. She's doing well. Her store opened almost two weeks ago and she's enjoying herself. She told me she dropped a tray of pearls and ruined like $14000 worth of merchandise, but her manager told her that "accidents happen". I can't even imagine.

So yeah, that is really the exciting update that I have for now. I'm super busy in the next 12 days so I will probably not be updating for a while. This Sunday I move into a hotel to live with the Sorority Recruitment Counselors for ten days. Get excited. I'm going to go crazy. Oh and on top of the insanity with everything at work (recruitment and such) the university decided to finish up our move with electrical repairs, etc. starting tomorrow. Groan, it's going to be a rough couple of weeks.

On another note, my mother is doing well and she sends you all her love. :) Oh, and Jennifer and Steve are moving to a two bedroom apartment in the next week. And they now have a joint bank account ::gasp::! Jennifer is enjoying her new job. I can tell you all about it if you want to know.

PPS: I watched Pan's Labyrinth this weekend on "watch now" Netflix. I would recommend it. It was complicated and at times tough to follow, but totally worth it for the deep meanings associated with the story.
