Happy Halloween!

As some of you probably already know, Halloween is like my least favorite holiday of them all, but I know that most people don't feel that way--in fact, quite the opposite--so in honor of that I say, Happy Halloween, post pictures of yourselves in costume (if you got 'em!) and enjoy this lovely photo courtesy of Pop Candy:

New Developments and Possible Plan Changes

He came crawling back last night. Oh and its ok to roll your eyes, I did too! lol We had a good talk, though there were quite a few "i think so's" tossed around. He asked me if I still want to "go out with [him]". I told him, in order for me to consider it he really has some proving to do; it's just not that easy. He told me things (meaning the reasons we broke up) have changed and he wants to try again. Again, I said that I have to take it slow and really be sure he is serious about this.

So I'm not putting all my eggs in this basket, I know that. But it might also mean that he is buying me a plane ticket to san diego for thanksgiving. I just wanted everyone to be aware of what is going on. I would still love to come to NYC, however, it really does come down to money - SHIT if he is going to buy me a plane ticket....who am I to turn down FREE MONEY like that? I feel like a CRAPHEAD for this, sorry. I will let you all know what happens.

Sure would be fun to see my bestest girls though!

Things are lookin' up!

So I've been calling people steadily over the past hour or whatever, but I figure I'd just send out a blanket announcement: I GOT A JOB! It's at a company called The Book Report Network, and it's an Internet marketing job, which is probably not exactly what I want to do long term (although I don't know that for a fact, as I have very little job experience, comparatively), but it's great experience and I think I could do a lot of cool stuff for the company--plus, free books! The perks are amazing, for people who are obsessed with (read: addicted to) books. Thanks for the prayers, chaps--they worked!

Now, of course, I have to find a place to live so that I don't completely alienate Cambria's roommate forever (I officially move to NY next Friday; I start the job on Nov 12). I wasn't worrying about that because I was all, "One thing at a time, or your head will explode," but now that the job thing is taken care of, I kind of have to deal with this. Especially before Kim and Carrie get here, so nobody has to sleep on the fire escape (could be fun, though--think about it and get back to me).

I don't really have any other news, although I would like to say that I'm glad our SoCal members are safe and sound (and, apparently, have mandatory vacay--way to go Kim). I'll leave you with this bit of drunken convo from Jenny and my night on the town when she came home on Tuesday (it's has explicit lyrics):

Jenny: I was dating this guy, but I had to break it off with him--he had a choad.
Anna: Uhhhhh...what's a "choad"?
Jenny: It's (lowers her voice) a really short, thick dick.
Anna: So you're not a girth person?
Jenny: Well, I am, but I'm also a length person.
Anna: So not too long, not too short, not too wide, not too thin--you want it just right?
Jenny: Exactly.
Anna: Jenny. You're Goldicocks*.

You're welcome!

*Okay, so at the time I was a little drunk and the best I could come up with was "Goldifucks", but "Goldicocks" (which I came up with the next morning) is so much better. So that's how I'm going to tell the story from now on--deal with it.

Uncomfortable Situations

HELLO!! While sitting around on my mandatory vacation I have decided to give you all an actual update on my life. But first:

Cambria: Hm...thigh high gym socks. That one is tough. You could be a slutty Brady. Haha! That would be hilarious! DO IT!

Back to business-

I've been keeping myself busy, as usual. I think we're finally coming to a slow down at work. That will be really nice. Although I will have some catching up to do on Monday after an entire week away from work. It will be interesting to see how everything is handled with events, etc. after the university being closed for so long. My office looks much like my apartment- in shambles. It was so clean before recruitment and I have yet to get it back into a presentable state. Once I do, I promise to post pictures of my fantastic, beautiful, and wonderful office. :)

This week we had a mandatory vacation (as I have been calling it) because of the fires. It has actually been really nice for me. I have had time to unpack and work on my Halloween costume. I'm going to be Robin Hood. Don't tell any of my SD friends because it's a secret (except from Dani who has helped me with the shopping). But yeah, a nice break from the constant on the go that my life has been for the last three months.

Last Friday I went downtown with Dani. We went dancing at Whiskey Girl. I love that place so much. We had a blast! Of course, it would have been more fun with the 4S there. But, alas. On Saturday I went all out and went downtown again after the football game (go big or go home!)We just went to dinner, but it was fun.

Last night was the strangest going out experience I have had in a while. Dani and I went to Outback Steakhouse (yum) and I had two big ridiculous frozen adult beverages which are totally out of my norm. We decided to head over to Incahoots and Ben and Navi (new friend- learn her name now...haha) joined us. It was fun and totally awkward for a multitude of reasons. Mostly because it was college night and we ran into a million of my students (who calls a thousand of us?). No seriously, I have run into a few students before while out and about on the town, but never ones I work with regularly or so many in one place. Well...both the IFC and Panhel presidents were there (they both claim it was their first time there) and a bunch of other exec board members. It was pretty much the most uncomfortable experience of my life. Especially when they tried to drag me onto the dance floor. AWWWWKWAAARD. Dani and I decided we needed to be drunk to handle the situation- unfortunately she was driving so I quickly became the annoying drunk girl of the group.

But yeah, I've been doing well. I saw Maggie on Sunday which was awesome! We spent some time at the Irvine Spectrum (with Jennifer and Steve- who are getting a puppy!). The winds were crazy! I am sure you all have heard that on the news though.

I have been really appreciating having Dani around a lot more recently. For some reason I have been feeling more and more homesick (mostly for y'all!) and being able to spend time with Dani has really helped. She's a blast! She even got me to join the gym! I'll wait while you catch your breath from the gasping. But seriuosly, it's just really nice to have such an awesome friend around.

I miss you all like crazy. It was so great to see Maggie but it made me want to have everyone together again. :( I see Jenny more and more now which is really nice as well. I miss Carrie like CRAZY because I live down the street from where you lived in SD! I booked my flight to NY for Thanksgiving and I am PUMPED! I even went out and bought a new coat. Oh yeah!

Oh and I went home a few weeks ago for Caroline's wedding. It was gorgeous! Caroline looked beautiful and the weather was perfect!! It was really great to catch up with some people from HS as well. Jenni (marlin no longer her last name) is doing well and her daughter is absolutley adorable. Chris Marcoux is hilarious! Seriously, I don't remember him being so funny in high school. Maybe it was because I drank an entire carafe of wine...hmmm. But yes, if you updates on specific people let me know, I would be more than willing to share.

But mostly my life is boring. Work, work, gym, work. That's pretty much my routine.

Don't be jealous!!!

trick or treat

So...I have Wednesday night off from work (miracle!) and I want to go out for Halloween. But I need to put some kind of costume together. I went to the costume store today and there were a few that were okay. I wanted Little Ho Peep, but the outfit was kind of ugly and it didn't even have any sheep on it. Plus you have to buy the staff thingy seperately (lame). I just can't believe how expensive and poor quality these outfits are! Next year I am going Kim and making my own!

So what is everyone else doing for Halloween? Any brilliant ideas for my costume? Currently I am leaning towards something sporty that involves thigh-high gym socks from American Apparel because I really want the socks, and I can't find any other way to justify buying them.

continuing update

Carrie- I am so sorry to hear about your breakup. Just remember that you are an amazing person and that we all love you!

I have an update- I talked to Jenny- she's doing okay. She got sent home from work as well. She isn't feeling well and she has a few friends who were evacuated and are coming to stay with her.

They have evacuated as far south as Scripps Ranch (basically to Miramar).

Megan, Dani, and I are going to Qualcomm Stadium to help out. It's been set up as an evacuation center.

I'll keep you all updated.

Also- as a side note, my mother informed me this morning that she has shingles. Please keep her in your prayers.

It's called a breakup, because its broken

In the light of the San Diego wildfires, my post seems very trivial. The fires are all over the news down here; I'm glued to signonsandiego.com for updates. Please friends, be safe.

I feel like my life is on fire too, at least since Friday. Ian and I broke up. I have no idea if he'd been thinking about it, though he assured me it was just something that happened during our normal conversation (whatever). The long distance is too much I guess. He wants to go to school in 3 years and point blank said "I don't want a girlfriend when I am in school." IN 3 YEARS. He saw us breaking up eventually, in 3 years, so pretty much gave me the choice of when to end it. I said all the normal things a girl in love with a boy would say, but he had made up his mind. What's really confusing is he was adamant the whole time - "I love you."

I've cried a lot (my boss pulled me aside today and told me I could go home it if wanted). I still have so many questions, though I'm realizing they just won't be answered. Mostly just hurt by the man I loved, and who I thought loved me - wondering what changed and how to live a life not talking to him everyday. Other than that, it stings that he is reaching out to his ex again (NEVER LOOK AT MYSPACE AFTER A BREAK UP). So here I am again.

Anyway, I just wanted you all to know. I've made some good friends here in Texas, but nothing like you! I miss you guys, especially at times like these when all I want to do is be with friendly faces. If you get a change, I could use a good word.

Hope all is well.

Important Update

I doubt any of your actually watch the news on a regular basis, but I wanted to update you on what is happening here in SoCal (in particular San Diego).

There are approx. 11 wildfires burning throughout Southern California, 6 in San Diego county. Evacuations have been given out to most areas of Northern San Diego county.

SDSU has closed as of 1pm. I have to be out by 2pm. We were the last unversity in the county to cancel classes and close our doors today. The closest fires to me are at least 15-20 miles north of I-8.

I am safe and doing well. The air quality isn't amazing, but it's okay.

The strong winds are pushing the fires further and keeping firefighters from going into the air to fight the fires.

I will keep you all updated on the situation as well. I'll check in with Jenny as well (cause I know she would never update this...)

Pushing Daisies

What a wonderful, whimsical, sassy, and colorful comedy 'Pushing Daisies' is. I love it! Ever since I saw the advertisements for it, I knew it would be a great show. Check it out and you'll instantly fall in love with Ned, wish he could touch Chuck instead of pretending to hold her hand, and realize that Chuck's Aunt Vivian is the actress who played Audrey in 'Little Shop of Horrors' and that Olive Snook was Glinda in 'Wicked.' Oh and the narrator is the man who does the 'Harry Potter' audio books!! What fun!

New! American! Gladiators!

Cambria: Set your DVR.

Everyone else: Don't even dare to think you'll ever hear from her again. Because the American Gladiators? Are coming back.
